 This weekend, 4th & 5th July 2020, from 09:00 & 21:00 CET, on Happy Hour - Radio DJ1, you can listen the album "Behind the sun (2020 Anniversary Mixes)" by Chicane, album released on May 8th, 2020. It's easy to underestimate the importance of this album released in March 2000. Although perhaps overlooked, it is important for its 'head above the sand' moment for what was then, still and underground movement to some degree. Labelled as being the King of Trance, Chicane had successfully married what we now take as normal; the collaboration and guest vocal. Indeed, taking it a step further and incorporating known, 'found' pieces into compositions. Something Brian Eno had started some years earlier. Saltwater, with its haunting theme had broken the Uk Charts in 1999. Normally this would have been the flagship track for the album. However, it was his working with Bryan Adams on the global number one, Don't Give Up, with its sexy intro and ear-worm chorus that took Trance from Ibiza to Top of the Pops. There were voices of discontent, sell-out was a term banded about, but the sheer quality of the album, the flow, and tracks suck as Autumn Tactics and Halcyon were more than enough to please the 'Ibiza Town Intelligentsia'. Looking at the theme park that Ibiza now is, the younger pilgrims to the island would forgiven for not knowing there was a time when the soul of the island was about freedom and time to relax, Chicane embodied that ethos, and Behind the Sun is like portal to those times. For many years requests would arrive for 'stems' to remix tracks, all refused; there were no stems, this was recorded on tape and was conceived as an album - if you don't know what that is, go ask someone over thirty. It was Chicane, the band, real people playing real things, married to electronic beats. Chicane as never just a DJ, he had already set the dance world alight with 'Offshore' in 1996. Behind the Sun is an emotional string of musical gems. This album was and is, Nick Bracegirdle (Chicane). An embodiment of summer mornings and glistening seas. When the anniversary release was first mooted, it crossed everyone's mind that these tracks were timeless and, and no less in demand for remixes. So, here is the original album remastered, coupled with remixes by an array of contemporary and legendary remixers. The sheer substance of the original tracks comes shinning through in these mixes, the orchestral weaving the little pieces of ear candy, there is an embarrassment of melodies. As an old soul lyric says, other guys imitate us, but the originals are the greatest.

Neon Future IV is the sixth studio album by American DJ and producer Steve Aoki, succeeding his 2018 album Neon Future III. It was released on April 3, 2020, through Dim Mak Records.It contains collaborations with Norwegian producer Alan Walker, Brazilian DJ Alok, Australian musician Timmy Trumpet, German DJ Felix Jaehn, American DJs Slushii, Travis Barker and Makj, Dutch DJs Ummet Ozcan, Dzeko and Dr. Phunk and Dutch bands Showtek, Bassjackers and Going Deeper. Steve Aoki first announced the album during an interview for EDM.com at the end of January 2019. According to him, it marks the continuation of Neon Future II and III that he wrote together. He announced that he was finishing Neon Future IV, which would contain "mega collaborations" and that he would release the following singles of the album one by one, before publishing the opus, which was originally planned to be unveiled in 2019.A few days after, he announced via Twitter that he was working for a song with American rapper Ty Dolla Sign, which will be included in Neon Future IV. The album availability date has been announced several months after the release of Neon Future III in November 2018, and two dates were defined, first in Spring 2019, then in September 2019. In June, during an interview for MusicTech, he confirmed that he was working on it and prevented that lots of new singles will be dropped in order to complement the upcoming album. During an interview for iHeartRadio about his song "Let It Be Me" released in September, Aoki said, "Neon Future IV is packed with collabs. Every song is gonna be [a] very interesting, diverse collab list of artists from all different kinds of worlds — which is how I love to do Neon Future. It's all about connecting with artists from all different walks of life." In November, he premiered his album during All Nippon Airways Celebration in New York. A few moments before his performance, he said, "It's a bit nerve wracking because I've never played it for anyone. Actually, some of these songs never heard the light of day outside my studio. So this is a big moment, and the moment's coming soon. The Neon Future IV album will be coming out soon, but people in this room tonight will be the first to ever hear what I've been working on for a long time." The DJ also confirmed that it will be released at the end of 2019, and then debuted a mix containing his previous tracks and seven unreleased songs – all of them are collaborations – which should appear in the album tracklist. Liz Kraker of EDM.com noted that they varied in subgenre with dance-pop, future bass, trap and moombahton. After the release of the track "2 in a Million" in December 2019, the album was announced for release in 2020.

We are talking about Marian Closca, a man who needs no introduction after so many successful releases on our label. The album will greet the listeners with a track that will 'Ascend' us into the magical realms of another world, from there on the journey starts with Angel Moon, a track that will carry us on its back to another spiraling dimension. Flash Flood is a masterpiece in its own right. It starts calling us from the deepest depths of a hidden jungle.. luring us to reveal its secret.. and by the time you have reached the call, you will realize something.. the beauty was in the journey and not in the secret that you have revealed. Hot Rod continues in a similar style, this time offering a more emotional side with beautiful piano lines and magical plucks, combined with a driving bassline and epic vocal hooks. The track that carries the name of the album comes in two flavors, the original mix of Downward Spiral has so many layers of sounds, creating an otherworldly atmosphere that you will hardly find anywhere else. This whole album is a fine example of that signature sound that everyone talks about, but have such a hard time realizing it, but this man did it, he has found himself and his signature. Marian was so much inspired with this work, that he created an additional mix of Downward Spiral, which flawlessly continues where the original left. It starts right off from those guitar riffs and this time offers a more progressive approach in the beginning until it returns for yet another full on spin. Things are not over yet, as we explore further dimensions of Marian's world with a track called Whirlpool. He has given this track a perfect name, as it does exactly that, it pulls us in with its enchanting sounds and doesn't let go till the very end. Nuke'm is the final track of the album that has a psy-trance influence, but it doesn't follow its exact formula, it leans more towards the style of releases that Marian has released on our Pulsar Dark sub-label. It is the one that captures the atmosphere of a doom's day and also brings this album to a finish, as we have now reached the end of its spiral. This completes our journey of this one of a kind artist album by the musical genius called Marian Closca - a man who has given us flight through this hidden world of the Downward Spiral.
