‘Remedy’ was released in January 2020 and was inspired by the comfort humans can find in nature. Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘Club Quarantine’ has become a place for their fans to escape and connect on Twitch. The duo stream almost daily. Mike’s last remix on Anjunabeats, a spin on Super8’s ‘Cre8’, came out ten years ago.

Think you know Christina Novelli? Well, you do… but not nearly as well as you’re about to! The penultimate month of 2019 sees the release of a longplayer that dispenses with the ‘featurings’, ‘&s’ and ‘withs’ and places her work centrestage under a single-beam-spotlight. By-lined ‘The Acoustic Sessions’, ‘Through My Eyes’ tells you all you need to know about its focus. This is an album that illuminatingly dials Christina’s songs - both recent and classic - right back to their origin points. With the synths unplugged, the bass muted and the studio boxes powered down, Christina rolls over the piano and pulls up a stool. Whether by design or circumstance, the nature of ‘Through My Eyes’ draws you up close to her methodology. Where the ‘feels’ or emotes of 21st century song-writing stop, Christina’s process manifestly starts. It’s one that places all-out emphasis on emotion, sincerity of soul, experiences shared and a wholeheartedness that never flinches from the truth. Whether it’s tracks whose titles are – ostensibly at least – heart-on-sleeve (‘It’ll End In Tears’, ‘I’m OK’), or those implicitly draped in metaphor (‘Lighting Fires’, ‘Concrete Angel’), Christina’s never less than captivating. Songs (not least ASOT’s 2018 Tune of the Year, ‘The Air I Breathe’) certainly tell stories, but ones that rarely play out in the conventional manner songwriting dictates. Demons are confronted – some defeated, others not, issues laid bare, friendships’ pressured, relationships broken (and rebuilt), and all in the intimately up-close manner that only acoustic can transmit. A powerball of emotion - start through finish, ‘Through My Eyes’ is Christina’s own vision of her music.

Three years after his first artist album, Luke Terry is back with his second incantation: Touch the Stars. Touch the Stars is an 11 track, 72 minute slice of bliss. The album is a serious nod towards the classic dreamy trance sounds. All eleven tracks paint a different picture of the trance spectrum; from spacey melodic dreamers Sapphire and Coming Home, to all out euphoric monsters Astrostorm and Touch the Starts, the driving Skyhawk, and a window into the past with a helping hand from vocal legend Tiff Lacey on the reprised version of Fall into the Moon.

The White Room (Director’s Cut) is the fourth entry in the Samplecity Thru Trancentral series, released on all major streaming services on 23 April 2021. It is the first chapter not explicitely announced on the original flyposter.

The Director’s Cut is meant to fill a historic gap between the scrapped movie soundtrack and the later commercial album, presenting an alternate unreleased version of The White Room completed in 1989. Since this version predates the 1991 release it does not include some of the later tracks, most notably of course the later radio versions of What Time Is Love? and 3 a.m. Eternal as they had not been recorded at that point in history. It does, however, feature the original versions of Go To Sleep and The Lover’s Side (or edits thereof) as well as the previously promo-only Madrugada Eterna (Club Mix Edit).

"THE WHITE ROOM – Director’s Cut by The KLF is not The White Room album that was released globally by The KLF in various formats with various track listings in 1991. Nor was it a version of the same album not completed or released in 1989.

As with previous releases in the Samplecity Thru Trancentral series, some of the tracks included on the Director’s Cut have been slightly altered or updated.

*The fadeout on Go To Sleep happens earlier than on the soundtrack version, probably to avoid the sample of the Todd Terry Project’s Bango included with the original edit.

*Make It Rain lacks the ‘Pump, pump, a little harder’ sample.

*Church of The KLF starts with the reversed fade in from the original soundtrack version, omitting the ‘Take me, u-hu, take me…’ sample performed by P.P. Arnold. The Director’s Cut version also does not segue into the following track, though keen listeners will be able to hear a brief bit of new drum samples from the original soundtrack version played during the fadeout.

*Last Train To Trancentral starts right after the string section and features a completely new additional verse from Ricardo Lyte after the breakdown.

*The White Room is shorter than the album version.

*The Lover’s Side has some of the “Ho-ho-ho-ho-hold me” bits removed and is slightly shorter than the soundtrack version.

*Justified & Ancient has a slightly longer wind noises during the intro.
